Uploading Data to the Server

 

Go to the GPS Data Collection Utility section of the "K-16 Education Page" of the website.

You may want to print this page as a reference. Please note: all required fields must be completed for the data upload to be successful. You may use the tab key to move from field to field, or you may click in each field.

After navigating to the GPS Data Collection Utility section, you will see two links in the left-side menu labeled "Upload Mapsource File" and "Upload Exchange File."

Upload Mapsource File
If you were provided with the Mapsource software by CGIS or one of its partners, you will be clicking on the "Upload Mapsource File" link. The file must be exported correctly from the software according to the instructions found here. The correct file will be a text-based file.

Upload Exchange File
If you are using the free software downloaded from the EasyGPS website, you will be clicking on the "Upload Exchange File" link. This file must be exported as a .gpx file to work properly.

Step 1

Type the user ID in the "3 or 7 digit School Identification code" field.

Type your password in the "Password" field.

Step 2

Enter the day of the month the data was collected in the "Day" field.

Select the month that the data was collected.

Select the year that the data was collected.

Step 3

Click "Browse" and a small window will pop up.

Find and click on the file you downloaded from your GPS receiver.

Click "Open" when the name of the file appears in the "File Name" field.(the box closes)

Click the "Submit Information" button.

If there are no problems with the data it will pass a page and then bring up a page that states "Thank you for transferring your data."

You are then finished an can go to a different page in the site by clicking on the left-side menu.

Note: Hitting the back button will keep sending you to the finished page.

If there is a problem with the data you will get a new form.

On this form find the blue highlighted fields and correct the data in those fields.

Click "Finalize Transfer." If probles still exist, the "Uploading Data to the Server" page will open again.
