Installation And Use of Mapsource Software For Downloading Data
Insert CD 1 of 3 into CD-ROM drive
Install should run automatically, if not, see manual. For this installation, accept all default settings.
Connect GPS Receiver To Computer
Connect PC Interface cable to the GPS (be careful, the prongs in the receiver are easily bent) and to one of the COM (communication) ports on your computer.
From the pull down Edit menu, select Preferences
Click on AutoDetect Button to allow software to determine which COM port is used
Check the Unit and Position settings to see that they match the settings of the receiver.
Download Data
From the pull down File menu, select Open from GPS or click on GPS icon that has an "up" arrow
"Open from GPS" dialogue box appears, uncheck all options except Waypoints and click OK
Downloading data is automatic from this point, Waypoints in the receiver will be transferred. You can review the Waypoints by selecting the Waypoint tab on the left side of the display.
From pull down File menu, select Export and choose a destination on your computer and a file name.(This file is what is to be uploaded)
Click on Save, file will be stored. (For data storage only.)
Open file and compare Waypoint data in file to Waypoints in receiver
Clear Waypoints From Receiver
Waypoints should be cleared from the receiver after downloading them to an export file.
Turn receiver on
Press Menu, Menu – You will see the Main Menu
Scroll to Waypoints, press Enter
You will see the Waypoint list
Press Menu
Scroll to Delete All
Press Enter, a warning will appear, press Enter to delete all Waypoints
