Directions To Record an Observation (Waypoint) with the Garmin III+ GPS Receiver

Turn on GPS

Position the antenna to the up position

When enough satellite signals are being processed, the receiver will automatically display the map page

Page to the "Satellite" Page; check DOP (less than 6.0 is good)

Page to the "Position" Page (it has the compass at the top and displays time and date at the bottom)

Press the Menu button

Scroll to "Average Position"

Press Enter

Measurement counter will begin from 00000001

When counter reaches at least 20, Press Enter

The "Mark Waypoint" screen will appear

Scroll to Waypoint name field that will then be highlighted

Press Enter

Name the Waypoint and Press Enter

Scroll to Comment field to add a description, when finished Press Enter

Scroll to Done, Press Enter

To Review, Rename or Delete Waypoints

Turn on GPS

After self-test is finished, Press Menu twice

Main Menu will be displayed

Scroll to Waypoints, Press Enter

Waypoint list will be displayed

Scroll to Waypoint you wish to Review, Rename or Delete

Press Enter if you wish to Review or Rename the Waypoint

Press Menu if you wish to Delete the Waypoint

Scroll to Delete Waypoint

Press Enter

Press Enter to Confirm
